Warehouse Officer

Job Description

The Warehouse Officer is responsible for the day-to-day handling, documentation, and monitoring of commodities stored under Warehouse Receipt Finance arrangements. This role ensures all stock movements are accurately recorded, commodities are safeguarded, and warehouse operations comply with lender and company requirements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Commodity Handling & Recording

    • Receive, weigh, grade, and record commodities upon arrival.

    • Prepare receiving notes and update warehouse logs accurately

    • Ensure commodities are stacked and stored according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Stock Monitoring & Reporting

    • Maintain daily stock records, including receipts, dispatches, and balances.

    • Conduct routine physical counts and reconcile with system records.

    • Report any shortages, damages, or quality changes immediately to the Warehouse Manager.

  • Collateral & Compliance Support

    • Tag and label pledged goods as per lender requirements.

    • Assist in the preparation, issuance, and updating of warehouse receipts.

  • Quality & Risk Control

    • Monitor commodity condition (moisture, pests, infestation) and inform management of risks.

    • Assist in fumigation, pest control, and quality preservation measures.

    • Follow safety, security, and cleanliness standards inside the warehouse.

  • Coordination

    • Liaise with transporters, clients, and internal teams for loading and unloading activities.

    • Assist warehouse laborers and supervise loading operations when required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or technical training in agriculture, logistics, or supply chain.

  • 1–2 years of experience in warehouse or commodity handling.

  • Basic knowledge of commodity grading, weighing, and storage practices.

  • Experience in a warehouse storage environment.

  • Strong computer literacy.

  • Accuracy – ensuring correct data entry and documentation.

  • Integrity – trustworthiness in handling valuable pledged goods.

  • Teamwork – ability to work closely with warehouse staff and management.

  • Attention to Detail – monitoring stock condition and reporting changes promptly.
